Maintenance Technician

Responsible for ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on CNC machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications. Troubleshooting malfunctions and performing repairs where necessary.

Responsibilities

• Receive work orders, identify faulty equipment, and acquire parts and equipment to complete repairs.
• Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain production equipment from basic hydraulic equipment to complex CNC machinery, performing both electrical and mechanical work.
• Complete projects such as mechanical and electrical hardware and software upgrades, calibrations, and retrofits.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
• Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Fabricate repair parts using machine shop tools and equipment.
• Review production specifications, identify and report capacity restraints.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Maintain and acquire new technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.
• Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance for CNC grinders and Platit Coating machines.
• Perform general building maintenance and custodial duties.
• Ensure compliance with local laws, industry standards, Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements, and relevant ISO certifications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or 6 months of industry-related experience and/or training.
• Certification from a qualified training institution in machine maintenance is ideal but not required.
• 2+ years of equipment maintenance in a machine shop environment.
• Experience with CNC repair and/or robotics.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is desired.

• Ability to perform maintenance functions such as replacing spindles, ball screws, bearings, slides, and other components of machine tools.
• Ability to coordinate and prioritize daily workload based on capacity and customer demands.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills.
• Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems.
• Demonstrated ability to perform electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs.
• High ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and perform repairs.
• Ability to follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing with some lifting, bending, and twisting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stoop, bend, or kneel when required.
