Maintenance Technician

About the role
The Facilities Maintenance Technician assists with preventive maintenance and repairs of machinery, building systems, and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to engines, motors, pneumatic tools, production equipment, electrical systems, plumbing systems, and facility infrastructure. Work is performed according to diagrams, schematics, operating manuals, manufacturer specifications, environmental health and safety requirements, and Sandvik policies.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery, production equipment, facility systems, and building infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and plumbing issues.
- Interpret hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, hoists, and cranes.
- Adjust machinery components and control devices to ensure proper operation.
- Clean and lubricate machine components such as shafts, pulleys, gears, bearings, and related equipment.
- Replace machine belts and perform general equipment upkeep.
- Support maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
- Clear clogged drains, repair plumbing fixtures, and complete general facility repairs.
- Install, assemble, and repair furniture, fixtures, appliances, and facility equipment.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility-related service calls.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following 5S principles.
- Comply with all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and company "Golden Rules."
- Identify and report workplace hazards and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate commitment to Sandvik's Integrated Management System (IMS), including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One (1) to three (3) years of maintenance, facilities, manufacturing, industrial, or related experience.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without sponsorship.
Preferred Skills
- Experience performing preventive maintenance and equipment repairs.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and manufacturer documentation.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively across departments.
Physical & Work Environment
This position operates primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with occasional office-related work. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, crouching, and lifting. Employees will regularly work around machinery, moving equipment, and noise, while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
