Maintenance Technician

About the role

Maintain production and quality by ensuring proper operation of machinery, mechanical equipment, and building maintenance. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with complex machinery to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs with a quick response to system and equipment failures.
  • Correctly diagnose a range of faults and plan a suitable course of action.
  • Adhere to all machine calls between start and end of shift, communicating with Machine Operator(s) and teams to diagnose and fix problems.
  • Complete all paperwork neatly, accurately, and in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Follow-up all work orders to ensure proper performance.
  • Understand the principles of power transmission systems, various gearboxes, conveyor systems, and welding processes.
  • Understand the typical applications and recognize common defects of various bearings, drive belts, gaskets, and seals.
  • Use maintenance software programs effectively.
  • Work well with others in a team atmosphere and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including working after hours and off-shift hours as required to maintain production.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to complete assignments and projects without supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime as required, up to 12 hours a day.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

Skills

  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read measuring instruments with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Understanding of product layouts and production specifications.
  • Knowledge of product quality specifications and quality standards.

Certificates & Licenses

  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
