About the role

Liquid Environmental Solutions (LES) is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Operator to join our Chicago team. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working with industrial equipment, solving mechanical problems, and taking pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient facility. This role is maintenance-focused, with responsibilities that include equipment maintenance, industrial housekeeping, preventative maintenance, and supporting plant operations when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and perform basic maintenance on Air-Operated Double Diaphragm (AODD) pumps
  • Set up, prime, and operate electric trash pumps
  • Work with industrial valves, piping systems, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine equipment inspections
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe industrial facility through housekeeping and equipment cleaning
  • Read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Support plant operators and assist with plant operations as needed
  • Troubleshoot basic pneumatic, hydraulic, and industrial pumping equipment
  • Promote a safe work environment by following all company safety policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Air-Operated Double Diaphragm (AODD) pumps, including operation and basic maintenance
  • Strong working knowledge of electric trash pumps, including setup, priming, and operation
  • Experience working with industrial valves, piping systems, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to industrial housekeeping, equipment cleanliness, and facility upkeep
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Willingness to learn plant operations and support operators when needed
  • Ability to safely lift at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to work extended shifts of up to 12 hours when required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Wheel loader certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Experience troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, and industrial pumping equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting boilers or hot oil heaters
  • Previous experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, wastewater, chemical processing, or heavy industrial operations

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (including lunch)
  • Must arrive approximately 15 minutes before the start of the shift to be ready to begin work at 7:00 AM
  • Rotating Saturdays as needed
  • Occasional extended shifts up to 12 hours
