About the role
As a Maintenance Technician in the Stuart/Port St Lucie team, you will ensure all equipment and facilities operate properly by adhering to preventative maintenance schedules. You will repair and maintain machinery, modify components for assembly, and document maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with type changeovers, repairs, rebuilds, modifications, installation, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of all process-related equipment.
- Conduct routine daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of buildings and machinery, generating work requests and task lists from these inspections.
- Maintain a visual tracking system for projects to ensure proactive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot problems and provide permanent solutions quickly.
- Support engineering with test equipment.
- Research and document parts for purchase requisitions, including cost justification.
- Attend morning meetings to update management on work status, scheduling needs, parts availability, and operational issues.
- Maintain and utilize maintenance manuals.
- Assist in planning future budgets, process improvements, and equipment needs.
- Work overtime or weekends as needed to support downtime events and ensure full production capacity.
- Support any function necessary to meet company goals and objectives.
- Assist with special projects and process improvements on the production floor.
- Meet or exceed company standards for productivity and quality.
- Initiate actions to prevent product, process, or quality system nonconformance.
- Identify and record problems related to product, process, or quality systems.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area using 5S principles.
- Ensure equipment operates safely by enforcing operating instructions and scheduling preventative maintenance.
- Organize storage areas and recommend improvements.
- Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting at least 40 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, and repetitive hand/wrist motions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; specialized maintenance training preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in general maintenance; multi-craft experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, machining, troubleshooting, and design skills.
- Knowledgeable in the safe use of shop equipment (e.g., drilling, cutting, grinding, lathes, milling machines, welders, soldering tools).
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, with electronics knowledge a plus.
- Proficiency in mechanical (including light machining), electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and minor lift truck PM/repair.
- Ability to support engineering with test equipment.
- Self-starter capable of working independently or in a team with a sense of urgency.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Basic math skills and measurement abilities.
- Ability to read and write in English.
