Maintenance Technician

About the Role

This position requires a general knowledge of maintenance and repair functions, typically acquired through 2-3 years of progressive job instruction and shop experience. You will apply techniques in electrical/electronic and mechanical maintenance and repair, using organizational skills to maintain work areas and set priorities based on daily production requirements. Strong communication skills are essential to train lower-skilled personnel and ensure information flows effectively to supervision and across shifts. A commitment to a safe working environment and a willingness to pursue additional training and education are expected.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle and inspect parts, rebuild and overhaul complete machines, and troubleshoot components such as gear boxes, feeding and adjusting mechanisms, bushings, and sleeves.
• Service and maintain overhead cranes, hoists, power, and miscellaneous material handling equipment.
• Maintain and repair plant systems, including plumbing, heating and air conditioning, ventilating and exhaust equipment, and compressors.
• Perform skilled fitting of bearings, spindles, ways, and align machine components.
• Conduct electrical repairs to machines and equipment, diagnose electrical/electronic malfunctions, troubleshoot microprocessors, and recommend corrective actions.
• Design circuitry as required and work from complicated drawings, plans, sketches, and layouts.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as scales, calipers, dividers, levels, and micrometers.
• Instruct and guide employees in lower skill classifications for various maintenance assignments.
• Diagnose, isolate, and correct troubles involving repair and replacement of controls, motors, switches, devices, gears, and re-routing of circuits to balance loads.
• Assist higher-skilled maintenance technicians as directed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
