Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance of equipment and determine/implement new preventive maintenance procedures as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the work site and maintenance shop.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to define problems and offer safe, cost-effective solutions.
- Communicate repair needs and issues clearly to plant leadership; strong written and verbal skills required.
- Work with vendors/contractors to obtain pricing for parts and equipment.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and follow directions concisely.
- Prepare technical reports to document automation issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong background in electrical troubleshooting, repair, and installation of plant services.
- General knowledge of PLC technology (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar systems).
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in production/plant equipment, including piping (cutting, threading, installations).
- Experience with pump troubleshooting, rebuilding, repair, and replacement.
- Ability to apply OSHA and safety standards (e.g., Lock Out/Tag Out/Try, confined space).
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, piping, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
- Experience with motor starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), electrical circuits, and panels (480-3 phase voltage).
- Pipe fitting, pipe welding, and knowledge of steam boilers, thermal oil heaters, and industrial air compressors.
- Use of electrical, air-driven, and manual hand tools, arc welders, acetylene torches, and open-flame equipment.
- Install and rebuild progressive cavity, diaphragm, and gear-driven pumps.
- Troubleshoot motor control equipment (e.g., motor starters, run relays, VFDs, servo motors).
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists as required.
- HMI programming and troubleshooting (e.g., FactoryTalk, WinCC).
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, PLC diagnostic tools).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and repair.
- 5–7 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting (preferred).
- Asphalt plant and processing knowledge is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Work from step ladders, extension ladders, or lifts.
- Inside and/or outside environments with exposure to ambient temperatures, dust, noise, and mechanical pinch points.
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Operate hand tools (drills, grinders, saws, etc.).
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Eye and hearing protection required at all times on the production floor.
- Safety-toe shoes (steel/composite) must cover the ankle.
- Additional PPE as defined by management.
Schedule
- 8–12 hours per shift, varying based on schedule and business volume.
- Flexible for overtime and weekend hours when required.
