Responsibilities
- Provide manufacturing operations with support for machine repair, preventative maintenance, installation, and continuous improvement.
- Check machine operations and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, equipment, and automation problems.
- Perform complex preventative and predictive maintenance on machines and equipment using various tools.
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic controls on manufacturing equipment for rebuilding, repairing, or fabricating purposes.
- Modify and rebuild manufacturing equipment to meet new machine requirements or production demands with engineering support.
- Provide input on proposed manufacturing equipment and install capital equipment.
- Interpret electronic schematics for troubleshooting electronic equipment with minimal assistance.
- Maintain work orders on a daily and weekly basis and document all machine maintenance repairs clearly for historical purposes.
- Demonstrate skills in MIG and/or TIG welding, including repairing broken components impacted by position or load (e.g., motor mounting plates, conveyor legs).
- Use vertical mill/drill and other machining tools.
- Utilize Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software to enter and retrieve prescribed data.
- Troubleshoot and repair a variety of CNC machine tools, including vertical/horizontal machining centers, saws, tube lasers, mechanical and progressive die presses.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and/or PLC/controls failures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Electrical experience with certifications and/or licenses such as: Electrician License, Engineering, Fabrication Certificate, Electromechanical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, or Plumbing.
- Troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical components.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
- Some experience with programming machines (e.g., CNC programs, PLC).
- Advanced electrical skills.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and similar equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Standing: Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift).
- Walking: Frequent walking throughout the production floor.
- Lifting and Carrying: Regularly lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds; occasionally lift heavier items (up to 75 pounds) with assistance or equipment.
- Pushing and Pulling: Use manual or mechanical means to push/pull carts, equipment, or materials.
- Repetitive Motions: Frequent use of hands and wrists for repetitive tasks (e.g., assembling, sorting, packaging).
- Manual Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination and ability to handle small parts or tools.
- Climbing: Occasional use of ladders or steps to reach equipment or storage areas.
- Visual and Hearing Requirements: Sufficient vision (with or without correction) to read labels, safety signs, and equipment gauges; adequate hearing (with or without aids) to respond to alarms and verbal instructions in a noisy environment.
- Environmental Tolerance: Ability to work in varying temperatures (hot, cold, or humid conditions), exposure to noise, dust, odors, and manufacturing chemicals; use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
