Maintenance Technician

About the role

American Water is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to join our team in East St. Louis. In this role, you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance of treatment plant equipment including hydraulics, chemical feed systems, analyzers, pumps, motors, valves, and more. Our ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and be eager to learn the water industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as hydraulics, chemical feed systems, analyzers, pumps, motors, and valves
• Start up, shut down, and make operating adjustments to all equipment for proper continued operation
• Work with minimal supervision while maintaining strong communication

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent required
• Mechanical and/or electrical experience or training is desired
• 0-2 years of experience working in the water industry
• Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs
• Basic computer skills

Certifications

• Class C Water Operator License required after 2 years in position
• Class A Water Operator License required after 4 years in position
• Class C driver's license and D.O.T. medical card required within 30 days of being awarded position

Schedule

Full-time, Tuesday - Saturday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM. Changes in hours may become necessary for continued operation of the business.
