Maintenance Technician

Work in a professional manner with other maintenance personnel and mold technicians as needed to keep all equipment in top working order, ensuring only quality products are released to the customer.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, remove, and replace different types of electronic, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and optic systems.
• Pre-inspect parts or equipment to be repaired to determine required parts, supplies, forms, tools, tool repair, and shop equipment; communicate with Maintenance Manager.
• Read programmable controller information to diagnose complex problems.
• Diagnose and repair AC and DC motor controls.
• Replace belts, pulleys, cables, chains, bearings, gears, and related equipment.
• Communicate with other plant personnel to review deficiencies.
• Accurately log all work performed.
• Maintain work areas in a clean, orderly manner.
• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
• Perform PMs, clean, and lubricate molding machines and equipment.
• Modify, repair, and rebuild plant machinery and equipment.
• Perform mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Visually inspect and solve problems with machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
• Measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or improper operation.
• Document repairs and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
• Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
• Potential duties may include fabrication and installation of related trades, performing building maintenance, and general facility repairs.
• Perform installation of new equipment and/or relocation of equipment.
• Safely perform plant lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety, hazard communication program, personal protective equipment, and other safety programs.

Skills

• Understanding of the functionality of relays, motor contactors, motor starters, solid-state relays, soft starts, and variable frequency drives.
• Familiarity with operation and troubleshooting of PLC programming.
• Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot using schematic diagrams.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Experience in electrical distribution and machine controls ranging from 24 to 480 volts AC/DC.
• Good communication skills—verbal and written; effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
• Independent worker with the ability to work effectively with little supervision; self-starter in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
• Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and injection molding machines.
• Strong PLC programming skills.
• Ability to train others and work as a cross-functional team member.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing, technical school, and/or Associate's degree from an accredited technical institute or combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Good hand-eye coordination is required.
• Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
