Maintenance Technician Apprentice

Our site in Chaska, MN is seeking a Maintenance Technician Apprentice to join our team. This position performs a variety of tasks and assignments including the maintenance and repair of production equipment and facility infrastructure, with a focus on equipment uptime, reliability, preventative maintenance, safety, troubleshooting, controls, automation equipment, and process improvements. The role provides hands-on experience while completing relevant coursework through the apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits on equipment; isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using testing instruments.
• Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems; mounts motors and completes circuits per diagram specifications.
• Stays current with all codes and attends Entegris training; performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Inspects completed work for conformance with job specifications and safety requirements.
• Serves as a primary resource for controls and automation maintenance issues.
• Utilizes the computerized work order system; enters information and completes all required documentation thoroughly and timely.
• Focuses on key business processes to influence customer satisfaction, waste elimination, growth, cost effectiveness, and product quality.
• Follows standard Engineering and Technology practices and procedures; participates in Entegris' continual quality improvement process.
• Performs robot preventative maintenance (PMs), including inspection of pneumatic and electrical connections, in-house built equipment, and associated PMs.
• Replaces components, adjusts sensors, and troubleshoots robot functional issues; adjusts production floor robot program points.
• Troubleshoots and adjusts in-house built and vendor custom-built equipment issues related to sensors, motor drives, vision systems, PLC, and HMI.
• Handles network communication troubleshooting and repair for equipment.
• Supports tooling setup after mold tear down for service or cleaning by adjusting core servo homing.
• Adds new variant part numbers to automated equipment; updates test inspection programs for new variant parts or test spec updates.
• Updates data output info to CamLine for data collection; connects production floor robots to RJG for bad part quarantine.
• Clears robots and automated equipment for safe restart after power outage or shutdown.
• Works with and supports robotics, electrical (AC/DC), hydraulics, pneumatics, servo motors, sensors, HMI interfaces, and complex mechanical equipment.
• Provides support for PLC, HMI, servo and stepper drives, Faunc, Sepro and Star Robots, and vision systems.
• Completes miscellaneous tasks as assigned; maintains a clean and safe work area.
• Wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adheres to safety procedures; communicates potential hazards immediately.

Requirements

• Two-year technical degree (controls, automation, robotics, electrical, mechanical-electrical, etc.) or equivalent experience and training in a manufacturing environment.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks, CAD, or equivalent, as well as Word and Excel.
• High degree of mechanical aptitude and creative problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on electrical experience and advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Self-motivation, self-direction, and ability to work independently.
• Ability to train and support co-workers.
• Ability to work occasionally on weekends, overtime, and on-call as required.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times; stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, respiratory protection, and high-visibility vests.
• Adherence to cleanroom attire standards when required (gown, hair and beard nets, shoe coverings, gloves).
• Ability to work from elevated heights at times; use of harness and other protective equipment required.
• Ability to perform tasks involving repetitive pinching, grasping, twisting, and bending.

Schedule

First shift, Monday-Friday, with flexible hours depending on coursework. Opportunity to work 2nd or 3rd shift full-time after apprenticeship program completion.

Pay

$28-$32 hourly range, with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
