Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift

About the Role
This is a skilled multi-trade position responsible for supporting and maintaining CNC Grinders, Presses, Sintering furnaces, Wet and Dry media blasters, CVD Furnaces, PVD Furnaces, and the facility that encompasses the equipment. The individual will interact alongside plant personnel and independently work on installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and conducting preventive maintenance (PMs) daily.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct daily preventive maintenance (PMs).
- Read and comprehend schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
- Work with CNC-driven systems, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Understand and work with PLCs and ladder logic.
- Install and maintain 3-phase and single-phase motor controls.
- Perform conduit and panel wiring installation in compliance with NEC code and NFPA 70.E standards.
- Handle power transmission, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform pipe fitting, welding (Arc, MIG, TIG), soldering, threading, fabrication, plasma cutting, metal shaping, and bending.
- Participate in the Kennametal Spill Response program and Plant Emergency SCBA Response Team.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a maintenance technician, supported by training from a certification program, vocational, or technical school pertaining to the listed skill sets.
- Frequent walking, climbing ladders, and standing for periods up to 8-12 hours a day.
- Must be safety-minded and capable of passing a Respirator Medical Evaluation.
Work Environment
- Controlled temperatures and dust collection systems.
- Safety glasses with side-shields, safety shoes, and cut-resistant gloves required when necessary.
Physical Demands
- Approximately 8 hours of standing/walking with two break opportunities per eight-hour work period.
- Frequent reaching, climbing, and bending.
- Lifting up to thirty-three (33) pounds.
Problem Solving
Gather and analyze information, utilize learned skills, and apply critical reasoning to develop options and solve moderate to complex problems.
Schedule
3rd shift: 11 PM – 7 AM.
