About the Role
Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance service in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on large stamping presses and related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Follow Standardized Work Instructions for maintenance and repair tasks.
- Perform mechanical maintenance on large stamping presses and feed line equipment.
- Handle plumbing repairs, including replacing drains and running pipe threaders.
- Maintain air compressors, air driers, and conveyor systems (air, electric, and vibro units).
- Service hydraulic pumps, trash pumps, and oil pumps.
- Perform welding tasks (arc, MIG, TIG, and spot welding) with basic knowledge.
- Work on manlifts, ladders, roofs, and outdoor tasks.
- Adhere to OSHA and plant safety rules, including lock-out tag-out procedures.
- Rebuild cylinders and pumps of various types.
- Fabricate scrap trays, chutes, and work benches.
- Support operational improvement initiatives and develop Initial Standard Work Practices with teams.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs during production and perform scheduled maintenance.
- Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as deemed necessary or appropriate.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED, plus advanced technical training in electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLCs.
- Preferred: USDOL Journeyman’s certificate or equivalent work experience/skills training.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
- Ability to drive a forklift and maintain certification.
- Comfortable working at heights, including overhead cranes, ceiling lights, and parking lot lights.
- Ability to work in tunnels, pits, and other confined spaces.
- Physical strength and stamina to lift and maneuver heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Basic working knowledge of electrical systems (12-volt DC to 600-volt AC).
- Basic carpentry skills, including painting, drywall repair, ceiling work, and building offices.
- Problem-solving skills to diagnose machine malfunctions and address quality issues in formed parts.

- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle tools, and climb stairs frequently.
- Effective listening and communication skills to understand and convey information clearly.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks without distraction over extended periods.
