The Opportunity
The Maintenance Team Lead participates in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repairs of electrical and mechanical appliances, systems, facilities and utilities.
Responsibilities
- Direct the maintenance and repair of the facility's machinery, equipment, and electrical and mechanical systems.
- Preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned; develop and implement schedules and procedures for preventative maintenance programs.
- Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) / Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming.
- Work with production to solve issues; coordinate activities with other departments.
- Installation and maintenance of controls hardware (transmitters, flow meters, RTD's, chart recorders, instrumentation, processers, PC's, etc).
- Oversee contractors and projects that are ongoing in the plant.
- Be proactive in seeking out maintenance issues in the plant and solutions.
- Performs standard construction activities.
- Perform inspections of various electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Maintain equipment such as lighting, pumps, production equipment etc.
- See that company tools and equipment are properly used, maintained and stored.
- Work safely and efficiently.
- Complete and maintain logs, reports, records, work orders; orders supplies and other materials.
- Assists the Maintenance Manager with duties and assignments of the maintenance team.
- Fosters an employee safety, food safety and food security culture within his/her respective unit and supports GNCI's efforts through leadership and example.
- Address personnel issues and are involved in PDP reviews.
Qualifications
- Two (2) year degree in electrical or controls related field or mechanical training and/or 3-5 years experience in a plant environment or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of flaxseed processing equipment and plant facilities preferred.
- Self motivated, willing to accept responsibility, and ability to make good decisions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to read and interpret instruction manuals.
- Requires skills in troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of all plant equipment.
- Ability to work under high pressure.
- Must adhere to all company and other regulator requirements pertaining to a flaxseed processing facility.
- Adhere to all Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) safety requirements for a manufacturing operation.
- Must have own hand tools and knowledge of proper use.
- Comprehension of pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation, broilers, etc.
- Requires skills in welding, electrical, troubleshooting, and maintenance & repair of all plant equipment.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Requires intermediate to advanced computer skills (email, MS Word, Excel, PLC / HMI programming packages, CAD, etc).
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality.
- Ability to stand and walk the entire shift if needed.
- Ability to read and write instructions in English.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
