Maintenance Support Technician 1 (Crew C) Ontario, OR

About the role
This position ensures efficient operation of all industrial mechanical equipment for the facility, including mechanical maintenance, lubrication, sanitation, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment within processing, packaging, and other plant equipment on site. The individual will fully understand the purpose and operation of industrial mechanical equipment throughout the facility and make decisions based on sound judgment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure equipment (pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, product transport systems) is properly lubricated following Company or manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain clean and orderly oil inventories and storage areas.
- Perform oil analysis on assigned equipment, including capturing samples, sending to lab, and taking corrective action based on results.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment at the Water Recovery Plant to prevent or minimize industrial plant downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair processing and cutting equipment to prevent or minimize industrial plant downtime.
- Perform wire feed and stick welding on stainless steel, black iron, aluminum, and other metals for repair and fabrication.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, hydraulic systems, coupler and alignment systems) in the Water Recovery Plant and packaging/processing areas.
- Perform skilled duties such as painting, carpentry, cement masonry, plumbing, and drywall to maintain Simplot-owned buildings and facilities.
- Assist in setting up mechanical and hydro cutting systems for production runs and maintain high-speed cutter heads, dicing cutter systems, and other cutting equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment in assigned work area(s).
- Maintain shop inventories, tools, and equipment; create, perform, and complete work orders; and prepare kitting as needed.
- Coordinate or schedule additional work as needed.
- Identify, locate, and inventory parts required for repairs.
- Document, monitor, and maintain shift events, log Predictive Maintenance data, and assist with work planning using information systems and productivity software.
- Maintain Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation, and GMPs.
- Communicate effectively with team members and support groups in a participative management style.
- Handle additional accountabilities as required by management.
- Assist in training other plant personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years of industrial or food processing mechanical experience required (combination of education and experience considered).
- Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
- Must pass a hands-on job skill evaluation.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid equipment operator’s license with Lift Truck and platform within 30 days of hire.
- Able to perform sound welds (wire feed, stick, Heliarc, Oxy-Acetylene, and sanitary/food-safe welds) in accordance with applicable welding codes and standards.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Must provide required tools as specified at the offer stage.

- 3+ years of related experience and/or training.

$35.82 per hour
