About the Role
Reporting to the Manager of Maintenance, this position oversees and participates in the day-to-day production maintenance operations, facilities upkeep, and equipment functionality while managing a team of technical and non-technical employees and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and participate in the recruitment, hiring, and training of team members.
- Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
- Resolve team member grievances, discipline issues, or harassment claims.
- Determine pay raises for team members.
- Direct workforce to maintain all equipment in operating and functional condition.
- Provide oversight and coordination for facilities maintenance and upkeep within a defined budget.
- Oversee the Preventative Maintenance Program for all shop equipment and machines.
- Prioritize maintenance tasks in collaboration with production management.
- Influence, develop, and control budget, costs, maintenance, janitorial, and vendor processes.
- Request, review, and submit work orders, bids, and proposals from vendors.
- Utilize organizational and problem-solving skills to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain knowledge of building systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and process controls.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual inspection process for facilities.
- Schedule and document maintenance, repairs, and inspections to comply with safety, environmental, and hazardous waste codes.
- Manage parts and tool inventories to minimize equipment downtime.
- Schedule work based on job priority and equipment availability.
- Ensure all necessary safety training and documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Proactively address and correct unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of building systems in a manufacturing facility.
- Basic understanding of blueprints, schematics, control diagrams, materials, furniture, signage, and finishes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to maintain an "on-call" schedule, including occasional work after hours, holidays, and weekends.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- AA degree required.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience.
- Rounded experience in maintenance, repairs, and operation of plant equipment, including electrical, welding, and fabrication.
Working Conditions
Requires working in both an open office environment and on the shop floor.
