About the role
The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department. In the absence of the Director and/or Assistant, the Supervisor assumes administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities for the hotel’s Engineering Department.
Responsibilities
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Expotel Hospitality Service standards, as required by scheduling.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with Expotel Hospitality Service standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times; be attentive, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and fellow employees.
- Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in a safe and acceptable state of repair.
- Ensure the hotel complies with all local, state, and federal laws.
- Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested, and certified per hotel standards or regulatory requirements.
- Supervise Engineers and ensure they are properly trained in customer service, standard operating procedures, and loss prevention standards.
- Actively participate in energy conservation programs per Expotel Hospitality Service standards.
- Review Guest and Meeting Planner comment cards to identify and correct problems in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Assist with the administration of vendor contracts controlled by the Engineering Department.
- Assist in developing and controlling wage/salary, expenses, and energy budgets per Expotel Hospitality Service financial standards.
- Assist in developing financial forecasts and participate in monthly profit/loss review meetings.
- Assist with special projects and renovations as necessary.
- Repair and program the hotel electronic lock system.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field required.
- At least three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Trade school and/or college coursework in a related field preferred.
- Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
