About the role
The Summary Maintenance Specialist is responsible for a specific maintenance function or multiple specialties including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, masonry, carpentry, crane, mobile equipment, grounds, machine, hydraulic, power tools, welding equipment, computer aided operations equipment, and robotics.
Responsibilities
- Perform and abide by safety policies and procedures while performing related assignments.
- Maintain an organized, clean, safe, and healthy working environment.
- Repair, detect malfunctions, and regularly maintain equipment and/or physical structures, associated with specialty.
- Works independently and brings projects and repairs to a completion in a timely manner.
- Maintain tooling, accessories, and equipment in safe, clean, and in good working condition.
- Focus is primarily maintenance projects that fall within the work specialty including the coordination of other projects, equipment, tools, parts, and schedules while reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- May keep inventory of maintenance supplies, may indicate when items need to be ordered, and may enter information related to specialty into inventory data system.
- Analyze repair requests and troubleshoot.
- Conduct emergency maintenance and repair works.
- Provide assistance to co-workers as needed and directed.
- Attend job training and safety programs organized by the maintenance department, EHS, and HR.
- Adhere to company policies, safety regulations, and OSHA requirements.
- Perform, understand, comprehend, and communicate basic math functions primarily related to all facets of Maintenance Specialty.
- Clean and keep organized work areas during and at the end of the shift.
Qualifications, Education, And/or Experience
- Four years of experience in facilities maintenance experience to include all phases of preventive and corrective maintenance, including industrial and/or commercial facilities maintenance associated with specialty is required.
- Must be skilled in the use of the tools, materials, and equipment of the specialty trade.
- Strong understanding of a variety of repair techniques and tooling operations associated with specialty.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Minimum intermediate level computer skills with MS Office experience to include spreadsheets, word processing, and e-mail.
- Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and comprehend job specifications, measurements, blueprints, and/or detailed drawings.
- Oral comprehension and expression skills to listen to and understand information and ideas presented verbally and then effectively communicate the information and ideas verbally.
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period without being distracted.
- Ability to work assigned shift schedule.
- Ability to work alone or as a team.
- Ability to don and doff personal protective equipment needed for specialty.
- This includes willingness and ability to pass 'Respirator Fit test' if respirator is needed.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Possession of Certification in area of specialty is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to maneuver larger objects with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and be at heights (heights dependent upon specialty) throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing or plant environment while maneuvering self throughout the work areas and/or products or equipment.
- Standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, handling, talking, and hearing.
- (some requirements may be dependent upon bona fide occupational qualifications related to specialty assignment.)
- Personal Protective Equipment don and doff associated with specialty.
- Ability to perform some tasks outside in all seasons of weather.
