About the role
The Shift Leader is responsible for leading a shift, ensuring a safe environment, maintaining high-quality production, and performing various maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe environment for all production employees, visitors, and temporary labor.
- Monitor production floor and equipment for unsafe conditions and report and correct them immediately.
- Ensure proper medical attention is provided for accidents and conduct investigations.
- Ensure the best quality product is produced at all times, meeting or exceeding company and customer expectations.
- Coordinate and conduct quality training as required.
- Label and tag all production and maintain raw and packaging material traceability.
- Train production employees to identify and handle nonconforming products and materials.
- Isolate and track non-conforming products and materials.
- Perform quality and downstream testing, record results, and report out-of-specification conditions.
- Chart and evaluate SPC data for out-of-specification and out-of-control conditions.
- Achieve maximum production efficiency on all scheduled machines.
- Monitor and adjust production efficiencies to meet 'World Class' OEE standards.
- Perform shift inventories and record production details.
- Address inefficiencies proactively and communicate with maintenance personnel.
- Participate in TPM events and projects.
- Answer phones and greet visitors professionally.
- Operate and maintain equipment safely, following lockout/tagout procedures.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks and address machine inefficiencies.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Support food safety and defense programs.
- Coordinate and conduct food safety training.
- Resolve housekeeping and sanitization opportunities.
- Committee member on problem-solving teams as necessary.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 3-4 years relevant experience, with at least 2 years leading a team.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work under stress and deadlines.
- Physical ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling, hearing, repetitive motion, vision, and exertion.

Pay
Minimum wage is $26.30 per hour.
