Maintenance/Service Attendant

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for maintenance work across the college’s facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment. The Maintenance/Service Attendant performs a variety of tasks with a high degree of independence, attention, and organization.

Responsibilities

• Practice safety in all aspects of the job on a daily basis.
• Perform general routine cleaning and sanitizing of a custodial nature.
• Conduct routine repairs to buildings and grounds at all college sites.
• Perform general maintenance repairs and projects as scheduled by the immediate supervisor.
• Handle grounds maintenance, including mowing lawns, trimming bushes, and replacing exterior light bulbs.
• Troubleshoot problems and issues reported by staff, faculty, and administration.
• Maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment required for the role.
• Assist carpenters, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and electricians with routine maintenance issues.
• Carpentry: Perform repairs to cabinets, shelves, hang bulletin boards, painting, and use general tools associated with the trade.
• HVAC: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs, including filter changes, troubleshooting, and minor system repairs or replacements.
• Plumbing: Install and repair faucets, fountains, and fixtures.
• Landscaping: Perform tasks such as push mowing, trimming shrubs, grading, and landscaping around buildings.
• Snow removal using shovels, snowblowers, and other equipment.
• Follow a maintenance schedule to ensure all routine tasks are completed.
• Responsible for setups at multiple sites.
• Maintain inventory of supplies in assigned areas.
• Available to work Saturdays and overtime as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting).
• Valid PA Driver’s license.
• At least three years of experience in general maintenance or construction.

Skills

• Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic knowledge to operate custodial equipment.
• Basic knowledge and ability to operate equipment used for grounds work.
• Ability to work and think independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Flexible work schedule, including overtime as needed, subject to change for summer cleaning and snow removal.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years of experience in general maintenance or construction.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
• Must have the physical strength to lift a minimum of 35-50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, push, pull, climb, and shovel.
• Ability to work in freezing, subfreezing, and hot/humid temperatures.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay

Salary is restricted to a predefined range and will not exceed the maximum of that range. Offers are non-negotiable and determined based on related work experience submitted on the resume.
