MAINTENANCE REPAIRER 2

About the Role

This position assists with the maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of all DOTD-owned buildings, facilities, welcome centers, and rest areas within our district.

Responsibilities

• Making new additions and renovating existing facilities, roof repairs and replacements, installation of paneling, laying floor tile, ceramic tile, and ceiling tile, installation of sheetrock, molding, cabinets and countertops, doors/windows, vinyl siding, installation and repair of door locks, and window air conditioning units
• Framing new construction and all other related repairs and installations as deemed necessary
• Repairing, maintaining, and installing new plumbing; removing and replacing all plumbing fixtures including commodes, faucets, urinals, water fountains, sinks, P-traps, supply lines, and cut-off valves
• Repairing water lines, sewer lines, and gas lines
• Providing minor electrical maintenance including replacing light fixtures, changing electrical receptacles, installing fans, window units, and heaters, and installing electrical flush valves
• Making general repairs to buildings, interiors, exteriors, furniture, fixtures, air conditioning/heating systems and other mechanical and related fields such as plumbing, carpentry and electrical
• Making limited repairs to appliances, replacing parts and making adjustments
• Making minor repairs to navigational locks such as replacing hydraulic hoses
• Maintaining and making general repairs to a variety of motorized equipment including tune-ups, replacement and adjustment of worn or damaged parts (carburetors, generators, alternators, starters, pumps, brake linings/pads, etc.) and limited disassembly of major components (engines, transmissions, final drives, etc.) to determine the extent of damage and repairs necessary
• Starting, operating and checking for safety and maintenance of a wide variety of hand held equipment, motorized vehicles, tractors, cotton pickers, combines, hay balers, planters, etc.
• Performing physical tasks such as lifting, loading materials, and using hand and power tools
• Performing general road maintenance tasks

Qualifications

• Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance
• OR completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering
• OR twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses

Pay

Starting salary is $19.69/hour. Additional compensation may be considered in part with extraordinary qualifications in accordance with State Civil Service Rules and DOTD policy.
