Maintenance Receiver
Full-time, non-exempt, hourly position with union benefits. Starting rate: $17.28/hr (see union contract for details).
About the role
Primary responsibility is to maintain well-stocked food items by receiving product and transporting it to proper areas within the unit. Includes receiving, stocking, dating, and proper rotation of product, janitorial maintenance, general dish room duties, equipment operation and maintenance, and transport of items within different areas of the units on campus. Some food prep and customer service as needed. Must work consistently and productively during entire shift.
Responsibilities

- Perform general cleaning and other food service duties as requested by management
- Prioritize work and execute tasks with speed, efficiency, and accuracy in a high-volume environment
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience as a receiver
- General janitorial experience preferred
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a high-volume operation
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Basic math skills for counting boxes and reconciling invoices
- Detail-oriented to ensure proper delivery and transport of products
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must speak, read, and write English
- Maintain professional appearance, demeanor, and hygiene
- Reliable transportation and attendance
Work Environment
The work environment can be loud and busy, with exposure to kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery surfaces. The position operates in a kitchen environment with frequent exposure to heat, steam, fire, noise, and extreme temperatures in coolers and freezers. Work may take place in refrigerated and temperature-controlled environments.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Very active role requiring the ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, stretch, twist, or reach out
- Regularly required to talk and hear
- Requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Must use hands to finger, manipulate, reach, stir, measure, pour, cut, chop, dice, and decorate
- Requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers, and visually inspect (including close and distance vision)
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
