Maintenance / Production Manager

Front-line leadership role overseeing day-to-day operations of a designated production team, focusing on safety, quality, efficiencies, plant maintenance, and meeting customer expectations. Provides direction to production floor employees in production, scheduling, performance management, and training to improve operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and training to all employees.
• Coordinates production activities with other departments.
• Ensures vacancies are covered by working with the operations team.
• Establishes and monitors shift performance.
• Enters production data into the system and updates communication boards.
• Leads employee start-up meetings.
• Works with team members to control and improve efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime, and repair expenses.
• Implements cost-effective systems.
• Promotes and maintains shop floor organization and plant housekeeping.
• Acts as the first point of contact for operators and directs operator-based maintenance as required.
• May conduct tool store inventory reviews.
• Prepares and reviews employees' worked hours for submission to payroll.
• Performs other duties as assigned and attends required meetings and trainings.
• Reviews and approves documentation, reports, and records.

Requirements

• 5-10 years of supervisory and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.
• Experience with 6S, lean manufacturing programs, and implementing/managing an Operating System (Black Belt Certification a plus).
• Previous experience working in a Lean environment.
• Self-directed team player with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work multiple shifts between 8-12 hours, more than 40 hours a week, with potential travel and/or overnight stays.
• Able to work in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong innovation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to transfer information to large groups and influence others.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing, production, maintenance, Quality systems (ISO 9001), and OSHA regulations.
• Exceptional reading comprehension, problem-solving, decision-making skills, and attention to detail.
• Proficient in using the internet/e-mail, internal manufacturing computer systems, presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
• Experience with financial management, budgetary responsibility, forecasting, and projections.
• Must wear steel boots or composite toed shoes, safety glasses, work gloves, hearing protection, and resistant sleeves.
• If driving is required, a valid driver’s license is necessary.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
