About the role

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor, this position will organize and plan all aspects of the maintenance department’s jobs pertaining to work orders and preventive maintenance for a given group of crafts, equipment, and/or areas of the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate repairs, services, and overhauls of equipment for the business unit.
  • Assist in the management of the MRO budget for the business unit, including reports, and manage relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Organize and plan all aspects of maintenance department jobs for a given group of crafts (mechanical, electrical, welding, etc.).
  • Review work at job sites, develop bill of materials, and submit requests for ordering parts.
  • Prepare and analyze periodic reports relating to performance of: backlog of written work orders, routine operating tasks, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Enter and implement new PMs into the maintenance CMMS system (SAP), assign PMs, write and distribute work orders, and run reports of completed PMs and work orders.
  • Assist in the preparation of equipment history as requested to assist in failure analysis vs. lines effectiveness (OEE/WEV reports).
  • Support planning labor hours regarding safety work orders and work orders related to sanitation as well as QCMS & QCDSM initiatives to maximize equipment reliability, minimize production interruptions, and minimize total cost of parts procurement.
  • Assist in equipment history reporting and support failure analysis vs. lines effectiveness to re-evaluate PMs as needed.
  • Plan work orders by:
    • Visiting job sites if necessary.
    • Developing Bill of Material (B.O.M.).
    • Estimating total work costs (parts and labor).
    • Creating sketches/drawings as required.
    • Facilitating part requests from maintenance associates.
  • Improve efficiencies of planning functions and analyze job performance measures for continued improvement (KPI’s).
  • Provide documented analysis of breakdown reports and use them to recommend and implement corrective action, preventive/predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and improve the existing preventive maintenance program, working with maintenance and production management, individual maintenance associates, and production associates to develop a detailed preventive maintenance program for all equipment.
  • Maintain, improve, and overhaul programs for assigned equipment.
  • Document activities of the maintenance departments and report maintenance status to production, quality, and sanitation departments.
  • Compile reports and work orders related to safety and sanitation.
  • Participate on process improvement teams and promote teamwork.
  • Evaluate new or proposed equipment.
  • Direct activities of contractors as needed.
  • Confirm orders daily/weekly in SAP system.
  • Assist in the proper facilitation/documentation of transferred/disposed assets in the property system for the business unit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager and Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical as well as electrical background.
  • Able to organize, plan, and schedule jobs appropriately.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance management systems (SAP); 3-5 years desired.
  • Advanced education or equivalent maintenance experience to possess technical literacy/comprehension.
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills to communicate with all levels of management and plant personnel.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Customer focus and understanding of Total Quality Management philosophies to facilitate change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Negotiation skills, ability to influence, and persuasion skills.
  • Analytical skills, decision-making skills, problem-solving ability to apply problem-solving techniques and execute plans effectively.
  • Understanding of Kraft contractor program.
  • Organizational skills to work under pressure and autonomously, able to prioritize and re-prioritize as business needs dictate.
