About the role
This position is accountable for providing technical and maintenance planning support to the maintenance instrumentation & electrical departments. The Maintenance I&E Planner is responsible for planning daily maintenance work and long-term project work in a correct and efficient manner, working within the plants Work Management Information System (WMIS) to prepare job packages, order parts, and ensure timely execution by maintenance technicians.
Responsibilities
- Ensure an orderly flow of the work order system, completing work requested by the customer on a timely basis.
- Plan all non-emergency work orders in collaboration with Production and Maintenance Supervision.
- Work with Procurement, Engineering, and outside suppliers to order non-stock parts and materials, listing them in the work order plan.
- Maintain equipment records, such as Bills of Material and specification sheets, within the WMIS.
- Maintain and update the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program, monitor PM completion efficiency, and recommend actions to maintain compliance.
- Participate in planning detailed shutdown and turnaround work.
- Develop plans for work order completion, including labor estimates and a list of required parts or materials.
- Specify and reserve stock materials and tools necessary for job completion.
- Complete job plans and forward work orders to the Maintenance Scheduler for scheduling.
- Assist Maintenance Supervisors, Technicians, Engineering, and contractors during job execution as needed.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance for installation, maintenance, enhancement, and upgrades of plant systems.
- Assist in troubleshooting plant equipment alongside maintenance technicians and plant operations.
- Help develop criteria for preventative maintenance frequencies with the Maintenance Manager, Engineer, and Supervisor.
- Prepare job summaries for entry into equipment history files.
- Monitor equipment history for frequent failures or excessive repair costs.
- Ensure Management of Change (MOC) in maintenance and operating procedures is communicated across departments.
- Monitor new technology for cost reduction and improved plant on-stream time.
- Maintain close communication with all levels of supervision.
- Ensure proper safety procedures are referenced on all planned jobs.
- Comply with departmental processes and procedures supporting internal controls; identify and report deficiencies.
- Support site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities through compliance and active participation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through teamwork and quality planning principles.
Requirements
- Two years of college, an AA degree, or 5 years of working experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial chemical setting.
- Previous planning or supervisor experience is preferred.
- Solid communication skills, including effective written and verbal interaction with peers and supervisors.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
- Strong knowledge of industrial equipment and environmental, health, and safety policies/procedures.
- Proficiency in PC software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and adaptability to WMIS, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project.
- Results-oriented with initiative and good interpersonal skills; ability to work as a team player.
- Ability to climb towers, enter confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to work independently, handle multiple projects, and provide direction to others.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to build and present presentations using PowerPoint to the Management Team as needed.
- Safety-minded approach to all tasks.
