Maintenance Planner

Responsibilities

  • Schedule all plant machinery repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Assess priority of work assignments.
  • Assist R&D personnel in project development.
  • Generate ideas/proposals designed to improve machine efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Collect project costs and shop vendors for best pricing.
  • Assign project work to other department personnel.
  • Maintain and/or assist in maintaining the parts inventory.
  • Work with outside vendors and/or contractors ensuring compliance with Company guidelines.
  • Follow and participate in plant safety/housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Maintain all training records for the maintenance department.
  • Prepare documentation for SQF, Safety, IDEM, and FM Global audits.
  • Attend safety steering committee meetings.
  • Maintain records and reports, including Preventive Maintenance, weekly reports for Plant Manager, Bowler charts, Downtime, BDA failures, Expense reports, Mold gaps, and Weekly rail measurements.
  • Maintain and assist in training and keeping records of Lock out/Tag out training and supplies.

Requirements

  • Meets all qualifications for Maintenance Specialist.
  • 2 years of trade school or a minimum of five years of direct manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic Auto-CAD experience may be required.
  • Ability to use precision measuring devices, such as micrometer, calipers, and squares.
  • Significant understanding of production equipment, process function, and support equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of facility and facility equipment.
  • OSHA-approved forklift certification, Scissor/Platform lift certified/trained, CPR/First Aid certified upon hire.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and legibly complete time cards and work orders.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, and technical drawings (machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical).
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic, flammable, or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and extreme heat.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Schedule

Must be able to work Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts with weekend work and overtime as needed.
