About the Role

The Maintenance Planner (internally called a Maintenance Asset Care Leader) leads and delivers improvement in the overall effectiveness, quality, and sustainability of the team’s asset care strategies. They own Asset Care Strategy, Maintenance Planning and Scheduling process, CMMS health, and data accuracy for their systems. Strong communication, process rigor, and technical knowledge in maintenance crafts, equipment design, manufacturing requirements, and maintenance processes are essential.

Responsibilities

• Safety Lead
  • Cultivate a Human Safety Culture that reduces risk by proactively discussing, identifying, and controlling risk.
  • Cultivate a Food Safety Culture committed to manufacturing safe food compliant with policy and regulatory requirements.
• Asset Care Leadership
  • Lead implementation of asset care strategies for the platform (90% of All A and B Assets) to meet plant and department objectives (Budget, Reliability, Schedule).
  • Communicate and educate across the platform team and plant leaders about the impact and tradeoffs between performance, cost, and asset health.
  • Communicate spending history and prediction by work type and category to assist in budget management.
  • Serve as the early management point person for Asset Care Strategies and Maximo setup around new capital.
• Owns CMMS Data Accuracy
  • Own Maximo standards and usage for the team.
  • Perform advanced data analysis to assist with problem-solving and proactively identify issues.
  • Maintain technical documentation for the team.
• Process Leadership and Ownership
  • Driving System Utilization (DSU): Incorporate Asset Care Strategies and MP&S in the creation and deployment of the platform improvement plan.
  • Daily Direction Setting (DDS): Participate in platform-level Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly DDS and support advancement of plans for the day.
  • Maintenance Foundational Systems (MP&S, LMS, Shutdown Planning, ER, Predictive):
    • Accountable for the development, implementation, training, and execution of the Planning and Scheduling process.
    • Independently create high-quality PMs and Job Plans with well-documented labor, materials, tools, and instructions.
    • Implement a work schedule balancing equipment needs, availability, labor needs, and availability to deliver plant priorities.
    • Coordinate with the production planner and platform team to optimize equipment and labor availability.
    • Create, lead, and measure the effectiveness of a work prioritization process inclusive of key stakeholders (operations, engineering, quality, safety, etc.).
    • Implement LMS, Shutdown Planning, ER, and Predictive for the platform through asset care in alignment with site strategy.
    • Partner with the Maintenance Team Leader on asset care connections with Defect Handling (DH) and Breakdown Elimination (BE).
    • Mentor and build capability in maintenance processes and standards.
• Know Your Operation, Data, and Technology
  • Increase technical knowledge to assess all incoming work and independently develop work plans inclusive of labor, materials, tools, and instructions.
  • Secure capability to independently communicate the scope of work through written documentation and verbal instructions.
  • Develop reliability expertise in how components fit and work together to make equipment/systems run, utilizing this skill set in documenting high-quality job plans.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing technical field.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
• Proven success in driving results through process and teamwork.
• Experience reducing losses and improving performance in a manufacturing setting.
• Technical capability and knowledge of unit operations and machinery (at least one production platform).
• Skilled at communicating between work groups, cross-functional resources, and other plant members.
• Foundational knowledge of data analysis systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and decision-making for results.
• Broad experience in materials (metals, plastics, etc.), fabrication methods (welding, machining, etc.), engineering skills (reading prints, measuring), fastening methods, and lubrication principles.
• Craft worker experience or strong knowledge of craft duties and capabilities.
• Knowledge of the skill level of different crafts.
• Practical knowledge of Maximo and Maintenance Planning & Scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Technical/Science/Engineering/Mechatronics preferred).
• 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing technical field.
• CMRP, MLTI certifications.

International relocation or remote working arrangements outside the U.S. will not be considered. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; General Mills will not sponsor work visas for this position.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $71,300 - $107,000 annually. Pay reflects experiences, performance, skills, education, work experience, certifications, and other factors. Beyond base salary, General Mills offers a competitive Total Rewards package focusing on overall well-being, including health benefits, retirement, financial wellbeing, time off programs, wellbeing support, and perks. Eligibility for an annual incentive program may apply, depending on individual and organizational performance.
