About the role

Carpenter Technology Corporation is seeking an experienced Mechanical Planner to join our Maintenance Team. Located in Reading, PA, this role plays a crucial part in ensuring the efficient operation of our facilities through effective maintenance planning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate non-emergency maintenance activities, ensuring all necessary resources are available before scheduling.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Coordinator, Engineering, external vendors, contractors, warehouse personnel, procurement personnel, and Production Personnel to facilitate timely and safe execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Develop and maintain shutdown and maintenance plans, gaining certifications in relevant areas.
  • Ensure adherence to TPM/LEAN principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues, recommending and implementing solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical circuitry diagrams, technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Operate independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, using MS Office tools.
  • Manage SAP systems as needed.
  • Comply with OSHA, NFPA, and other safety standards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a qualified craft personnel (Mechanical Discipline) in heavy industrial environments, preferably in steel, metal, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical and operational knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment and systems.
  • Knowledgeable in TPM/LEAN preferred.
  • Strong continuous improvement and project/program management skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical circuitry diagrams and drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, NFPA, and other safety standards.
