About the Role

Join a leader in the industry and a world-class team as a Plant Maintenance/Mechanic. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing machinery, as well as performing preventative maintenance on aggregate plant processing equipment, including conveyor systems, shakers, pumps, gearboxes, and more. The position also involves fabrication, welding, and other shop or processing duties.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and diagnose issues with machinery
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on plant equipment
  • Fabricate, weld, cut, grind, and grease as needed
  • Operate cranes, man-lifts, hoists, pneumatic tools, power tools, and welding equipment
  • Order parts through the maintenance department or outside suppliers
  • Complete required paperwork for equipment maintenance and plant operations
  • Conduct MSHA pre-shift safety inspections
  • Train and coach other employees on maintenance practices
  • Ensure a safe work environment and actively participate in plant safety initiatives

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in heavy-duty maintenance or equivalent training, preferably in the aggregates industry
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Proficiency with oxy/acetylene torch and stick welding; MIG welding a plus
  • Ability to identify and order basic parts (bearings, idlers, screens, pulleys)
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Must be able to work 8-12 hour shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments, at heights up to 100 feet, and in areas with high noise levels
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, carry up to 150 ft, and perform tasks requiring climbing, reaching, stooping, and prolonged standing/walking

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical knowledge
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency with a wide variety of hand tools and power tools
  • Normal depth perception, vision, and ability to distinguish color

Working Conditions

All duties are performed outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, dry, dusty). Noise levels can reach up to 85 dbs. The role requires working at heights and in cramped quarters.
