Maintenance Mechanic - Part Time

About the role

The Office of Physical Plant is currently hiring qualified skilled trades individuals for summer employment beginning May, 2026, through September, 2026. These positions require 40 hours of work per week (M-F with a start time of 6:00 A.M.). Positions are available in trades such as Electrical, Refrigeration/Plumbing, and Heating & Ventilation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation of new power and lighting circuits, LED lamp conversions, door security hardware, minor fire alarm upgrades, and other electrical and electronic tasks.
• Assist with general maintenance and troubleshooting on electrical and electronic circuits.
• Assist other technicians with dispatch calls and urgent electrical repairs.
• Report extensive repairs needed to the supervisor.
• Assist with preventative maintenance of commercial refrigeration and cooling systems/equipment.
• Assist other technicians with dispatch calls for cooling systems.
• Assist with the service and repair of heat pumps, compressors, ice machines, laboratory equipment, condensers, evaporators, and associated controls.
• Report extensive repairs needed to the supervisor.
• Assist with general maintenance and repairs to RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, etc.
• Assist with preventative maintenance of heating and ventilation systems.
• Aid other technicians with building automation systems (BAS).
• Report extensive repairs needed to the supervisor.
• Aid other technicians with HVAC needs.
