About the Role

Join Magna Powertrain, a premier supplier for the global automotive industry, where you will contribute to developing industry-leading automotive technologies. This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling machines and hydraulic equipment, with responsibilities spanning predictive and preventative maintenance across all machines.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, troubleshoot, and maintain CNCs, presses, and other plant equipment, including electrical repair and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Perform heavy machine repair of presses and rebuild/refurbish equipment such as CNCs, conveyors, feed systems, and transfers.
  • Install new equipment based on blueprints and layout schematics.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and orderliness in the Maintenance Department and at work sites.
  • Support division and department improvement initiatives, including lean practices, standardized work, and continuous improvement activities (e.g., MAFACT, CIPs).
  • Complete required paperwork and computer tasks.
  • Proactively maintain and improve workplace safety.
  • Perform 5S activities as required by MAFACT standards.
  • Participate in spill response teams and annual training.
  • Adhere to company policies, including IATF16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and MIOSHA/MPTSH safety regulations.
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Journeyman status preferred.
  • Minimum five years of experience in machine maintenance and repair, including heavy machine repair of presses and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of CNCs, stamping presses, pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems.
  • Experience with MIG and Arc welding, cutting torches, and reading hydraulic/lube schematics and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in operating maintenance machinery (e.g., Bridgeport, surface grinder, lathe, drill press) and precision measuring equipment.
  • Own tools required for maintenance functions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and oral).
  • Willingness to pursue further education to enhance skills.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain man-lift and hi-lo permits, Confined Space certification, and a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including computation of rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Knowledge of AS400 systems and bar code labeling.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Active listening and professional communication skills.

Physical Demands

The role requires frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, stretching, and prolonged standing. Occasional lifting/carrying of up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs, and working at heights (up to 40 feet) or in confined spaces. Regular use of computers, vision adjustment (close, color, distance), and indoor/outdoor work environments.

Work Environment

The position involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, high/precarious places, and vibration. Noise levels range from moderate to loud.
