Basic Qualifications

  • Must have a primary skilled trade of machine repair and a secondary skilled trade, one of which must be electrician, HVAC, pipe fitter, maintenance welder or carpenter.
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment and rigging equipment.
  • Apprenticeship papers, Journeymen’s card or 5 years or more of equivalent work experience in a skilled trade discipline is required.
  • A working knowledge of machine tools and welding is a plus.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are necessary.
  • The candidate must supply all customary hand tools of the trade.
  • New employees must pass the company physical and drug test.
  • Must regularly demonstrate the ability to lift a nominal weight, climb ladders, utilize elevated working platforms and bending while servicing equipment.

Job Description

This position is contingent upon program award to Lockheed Martin. Any job offers extended to selected candidates will include a contingency clause stating that the offer is dependent on Lockheed Martin securing the program award.

THE WORK

General Maintenance Mechanic tasks include any activity needed for maintaining the plant facilities and equipment. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of building systems and be capable of identifying, troubleshooting, repairing and performing preventive maintenance in a commercial/industrial work environment.

  • Duties include but are not limited to mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance, welding, pipefitting, air conditioning, carpentry work and painting.
  • Perform periodic inspections and tests and report findings.
  • Operational Support: Receives general instructions from supervisors and notice of service required from supervisors and other plant personnel. Works from blueprints, sketches and oral instructions and specifications. Uses all hand tools, power tools, and other equipment necessary for completion of assignments. May direct other employees assigned to the job.

SPECIAL DUTIES

The company agrees to pay employees who are required to work from a hanging chair or climb to work height, in excess of 25 feet above the roof or ground surface, an appropriate rate per hour (based on the Climbing pay letter of Agreement) above their own rate for hours of work falling within this category.
