About the role

Quad Winchester, VA is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic responsible for performing skilled mechanical maintenance work including repair, inspection, modification, and improvement on industrial printing equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic plays an essential role in minimizing operational downtime to help the plant provide high-quality product and efficient service to our customers. Paid relocation may be available for highly qualified candidates located 100+ miles from the plant.

Schedule

Our compressed work schedule is designed to balance work and family life. You will work 3 to 4 days per week, 12-hour shifts (either 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.), with opportunities for overtime (OT paid after 40 hours per week). Shifts rotate throughout the year and include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform mechanical preventive maintenance procedures and repairs on finishing machines and auxiliary equipment while maintaining accurate preventive maintenance (PM) records.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair precision machinery and auxiliary equipment, including reading manuals and looking up parts.
  • Perform all work efficiently with an understanding of the urgency of production downtimes.
  • Emphasize proactive measures to minimize reactive maintenance.
  • Maintain and repair components on systems such as bearings, shafts, couplings, gears, clutches, drives, gearboxes, sprockets, chains, and pneumatic systems.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts (either 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.), including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, working 3–4 days per week.
  • Must provide, at minimum, a basic set of mechanical hand tools and be able to safely operate and maintain power tools.
  • Basic math, computer, and good communication skills are mandatory.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in maintenance is preferred.
  • 2–3 years of related experience on bindery equipment, including stitchers, binders, sitmas, folders, and inserters, is a plus.
  • Completion of a maintenance program at a vocational/technical school or a recognized apprenticeship program in general mechanical maintenance is beneficial.
  • Previous mechanical experience in the printing industry or industrial maintenance setting is preferred.
