About the role

This full-time hourly union position involves maintaining the operational status of production equipment, utility systems, and infrastructure at our Portland plant. Availability to work flexible shift schedules, including weekends and holidays, is required as our plants operate 24/7, 365 days a year.

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, and test new and existing production machinery and equipment; understand and comply with workplace safety regulations
  • Monitor, identify, and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells, or atypical energy usage; perform troubleshooting for production machinery
  • Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic; identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner
  • Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness; create and maintain a schedule for inspection, service, and testing of machinery
  • Use a CMMS to schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment
  • Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification, or installation of machinery
  • Plan, organize, and maintain equipment and records
  • Follow all Food Safety and Quality requirements as outlined in Darigold’s Good Manufacturing Policy, in conformance with the position’s Standard Operating Procedures, and in accordance with facility training sessions and materials
  • Report any concerns that may impact Food Safety or Quality to their immediate supervisor, the Plant Quality Manager, or the Plant Manager

Requirements

  • Familiarity with MS Office suite and applications; ability to utilize electronic communication effectively
  • Understanding and experience in preventive maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. routinely/frequently and be able to sit, stand, climb, or walk for 8 hours
  • Able to work in a loud environment
  • Strong team, verbal, and written skills; demonstrated ability to be a team player
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs, controls instrumentation (limited)
  • Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience preferred
  • Formal education in a related field – prefer Associate’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering
