Maintenance Mechanic

About the role
In this role, you will perform a wide range of operations related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of the general plant, machinery, and auxiliaries. Work involves a variety of hand, bench, and machine operations that require skill and a thorough knowledge of the machine trade to install, maintain, and repair a wide variety of complicated machine tools.
Responsibilities
- Work from drawings, sketches, manufacturers’ machine manuals, plant layout, specifications, and instructions to move and install machines and equipment, make basic repairs, and perform general maintenance duties.
- Assist with the diagnosis of basic machine and equipment trouble, tear down units, repair or replace defective parts or mechanisms, reassemble, and try out.
- Assist with the installation of various attachments such as pumps, ducts, motors, tanks, guards, brackets, and other accessories.
- Inspect completed repairs, requisition new parts and equipment.
- Perform basic plumbing and pipefitting installations to maintain air, water, oil, steam lines, and circulating systems; repair toilets, pumps, valves, leaks, and drainage systems.
- Perform basic carpentry and masonry operations in general maintenance of the building; pour concrete foundations for machine tools; perform ordinary welding and brazing operations as required.
- Assist with the detection of defective materials or unusual conditions and report to proper supervision.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a safe and orderly condition.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Calculate decimals and fractions; perform basic shop math and arithmetic calculations.
- Assist the maintenance team with other facility repairs and maintenance, including but not limited to snow removal, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, HVAC, and cleaning.
- Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills; independently solve problems while interacting with various teams and teammates on daily processes and flow.
- Multitask various duties throughout the day, maintain a positive attitude, and be versatile and flexible.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience working within a manufacturing environment, with experience in facility repairs, maintenance, or machine-related tasks.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Basic knowledge of machine and equipment construction and operation; familiarity with various maintenance trades.
Pay
The approximate pay range for this position is $24/HR - $34/HR. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
