Maintenance Manager

About the Role

This position leads a Maintenance Team of hourly employees, fostering a culture with an unconditional stance on safety. The Maintenance Leader is accountable for delivering stable and reliable plant operations, focusing on safety, people development, quality, productivity, and cost. The role involves leadership, training, development, and engagement of all maintenance employees, demonstrating a proven track record in plant maintenance programs and operations. Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership, driving change, and achieving results through employee engagement are required.

Reports to the Tallmadge Plant Leader and is a member of the Plant Leadership Team. The Maintenance Leader will oversee a team of approximately 12 hourly employees within a plant of about 80 employees and two manufacturing lines.

Responsibilities

• Live and uphold the Safety stand, ensuring a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment.
• Develop risk assessments and safe plans of action for critical tasks.
• Lead and support safety initiatives and processes to drive toward zero incidents.
• Train and develop employees to safely perform their jobs.
• Participate in work area self-inspections and accident investigations, recommending corrective actions to enhance workplace safety.
• Develop and execute the plant maintenance strategy, ensuring alignment with business strategy and operations plans.
• Set performance objectives for the plant and maintenance department.
• Create improvement plans to drive plant operating performance and equipment reliability.
• Develop and execute a people strategy, including talent development and training.
• Maintain the maintenance budget, including labor, repairs, and replacements.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify and address process improvement opportunities to eliminate waste, enhance safety, reduce cost, increase capacity and productivity, and improve the end product.
• Continuously improve safety and housekeeping, leading the Tallmadge Maintenance Department to best-in-class safety and machine performance.
• Ensure effective deployment of employee/labor relations practices.
• Control and reduce operating costs by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiencies, streamline processes, and leverage resources.
• Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis on chronic maintenance issues or repairs.
• Execute effective PM and work order programs using predictive and preventive technologies.
• Develop and execute TPM & RWP plans as PM pillar leader.
• Maintain awareness of day-to-day operations to understand priorities.
• Collaborate and build strong relationships with production and technical teams.
• Build and lead effective teams aligned on goals to increase plant performance.
• Foster an open, trusting environment that promotes listening, respect, winning, and fun.
• Communicate effectively throughout the plant to ensure people have the right information.
• Ensure employees have the skills and capabilities to be successful.
• Hold people accountable and provide candid feedback on expectations and performance.
• Attract, develop, and retain top talent.
• Partner with shift resources to ensure maintenance personnel are well-trained and maintain required certifications.
• Engage employees across the organization to participate and contribute to TPM through communication and training.
• Regularly evaluate team strengths and development opportunities, investing in growth to achieve sustained success.
• Effectively staff the team by leveraging internal and external talent to satisfy near-term performance and long-term succession needs.
• Monitor and enforce all plant and corporate policies and procedures.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of industrial manufacturing/maintenance experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or Science.
