Maintenance Manager
About the role
Carroll County Energy (CCE) is a 740 MW 2×1 GE 7FA.05 combined-cycle electric generating facility located in Carroll County, OH. The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Facility Manager and oversees the maintenance of all plant equipment and facilities, including planning and scheduling of all maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations and power generation.
This role also manages procurement, receiving, issuance, and maintenance of an adequate inventory of materials and parts to maintain optimal equipment operability and reliability. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for contracting maintenance work that exceeds the scope or capabilities of the in-house maintenance staff.
Responsibilities
- Ensures safe work practices and procedures are observed.
- Ensures required mechanical and electrical maintenance activities during forced or scheduled outages are completed according to established schedules.
- Monitors and oversees preventive/predictive maintenance activities at the plant.
- Develops and implements long-range maintenance planning to assure reliable and efficient operation of station equipment.
- Directs subordinate personnel in outage planning and scheduling of maintenance, including thorough investigation of each request, determining material needs, workforce requirements, and necessary equipment/tools.
- Ensures coordination with the plant Environmental Specialist to maintain compliance regarding work-related environmental issues.
- Implements standard work management processes and procedures consistent with the EthosEnergy model.
- Manages procurement, receiving, issuance, and maintenance of an adequate inventory of materials required for plant activities.
- Monitors material personnel to ensure warehousing services meet plant needs.
- Coordinates with the site Planner/Scheduler and plant counterparts regarding inventory and purchasing activities.
- Monitors inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies of spare parts, equipment, and materials while minimizing company investment.
- Ensures all inventory is linked to equipment in Infor.
- Maintains a productive and motivated staff through sound human resource management and enforcement of personnel policies.
- Ensures work group activities are performed on time and within budget through effective planning, organizing, scheduling, and monitoring.
- Sets high and challenging productivity and quality standards; encourages new ideas and methods to lower costs and improve safety, quality, and productivity.
- Assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions and manages expectations of others.
- Resolves personnel or work-related problems promptly and fairly.
- Utilizes the Performance Management program to provide performance feedback to employees.
- Provides direct reports with well-defined job expectations, ongoing performance feedback, and accurate appraisals.
- Plans and controls group expenditures to manage costs and resource availability.
- Prepares the maintenance budget and projects and controls expenditures to maintain compliance with budgeted funds.
- Monitors actual budget variances and justifies deviations.
- Supports company and plant goals and programs.
- Represents the company in a professional and positive manner in all internal and external contacts.
- Translates company and plant goals into tactical plans and goals for the group.
Requirements
- Four to six years of related experience and/or training, or a combination of experience and education.
- Experience conducting or leading maintenance on a gas turbine combined-cycle power plant.
- Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; high school diploma or equivalent required.
Skills
- Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant maintenance operations.
- Ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
- Capable of writing maintenance procedures, work requests, and purchase requisitions.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals, and P&IDs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience writing routine reports, solving practical problems, clearly communicating tasks and needs, and training personnel.
- Ensures safe, timely, and efficient resolution of problems to return systems and equipment to operational conditions.
- Implements appropriate change recommendations for company leadership.
- Effectively communicates changes and expectations to team members.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Role model for quality work, safety, and work ethics.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Pay
Annual salary range for this position is $150,000–$180,000 based on experience and skills.
