Maintenance Manager

Brief Description

The Maintenance Manager directs all maintenance activities at our 1,800 MW coal-fired power plant. You will lead a multidisciplinary union team of internal personnel across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines and oversee external contractors. This role ensures maximum plant availability, and reliability. This position is a member of the Station’s Leadership Team and is responsible for providing leadership to the station’s maintenance employees.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive safety and environmental leadership at the station.
  • Assure the development and implementation of effective Work Management Program and System.
  • The maintenance procedures and processes need to ensure that maintenance is performed in a manner that prioritizes personnel safety, environmental, and equipment reliability.
  • Oversee, execute and manage maintenance budgets and update monthly budget forecasts.
  • Develop, implement, manage, and communicate the station’s maintenance plan.
  • Manage the station’s maintenance work force to achieve business targets, schedules and budgets.
  • Manage and coordinate activities of contractors embedded in the station maintenance support activities.
  • Optimize internal and external resources in support of station maintenance needs.
  • Development of workforce by overseeing safety training, technical craft progression, and performance evaluations.
  • Support the Station’s General Manager in the performance of his/her accountabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Ten (10+) years of heavy industrial maintenance experience, ideally in large-scale power generation, high pressure boilers, steam turbines, generators and instrumentation and control systems.
  • Experience in managing a unionized workforce and operating within a CBA framework.
  • Experience in management / supervisory capacity overseeing multi-disciplined trades and large contractor forces.
  • Demonstrated understanding of power plant equipment and related maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of progressive maintenance practices and planning.
  • Demonstrated policies relating to safety, environmental and maintenance requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and prepare information into high-level, effective communications.

Working Conditions

  • Office environment with significant exposure to the power plant environment including working out of doors, working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations.
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
  • Work in and around rotating equipment, high voltage electrical equipment, high noise areas and elevations.
  • Established facial hair in the sealing area of a respirator is not permitted and the ability to wear a respirator.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toed shoes, hardhats, and eye and hearing protection.

Summary

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.

This range represents the base salary and does not include other forms of compensation, such as bonuses, benefits, or equity, which may be offered in addition to the base pay.
