Maintenance Lead Technician

Royal Waste Services, a Waste Connections Company, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Lead Technician to support repairs and preventative maintenance on forklifts, small loaders, and other equipment used in our recycling facility. This role is ideal for a technician with solid mechanical skills who can keep equipment safe, reliable, and operational in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance (lubrication, filters, adjustments, inspections).
  • Repair and maintain:
    • Forklifts
    • Small payloaders
    • Skid steers
    • Other facility equipment
  • Assist with basic hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Follow all company, OSHA, and equipment-specific safety procedures.
  • Perform proper lockout/tagout during repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance logs accurately.
  • Track parts usage and communicate needs to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Report recurring issues or equipment concerns promptly.
  • Assist with equipment inspections and readiness checks.
  • Support operations by ensuring equipment is available and functioning.
  • Coordinate with vendors for parts or specialized repairs when needed.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in equipment or facility maintenance (industrial, warehouse, or waste industry preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read simple schematics or equipment manuals.
  • Ability to perform repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Pay

$20–$25/hr depending on experience

Schedule

Monday–Friday 7am–4pm, Saturday 7am–1pm
