Provide maintenance support to the facility by maintaining and improving the ongoing reliability of plant equipment, machinery, and processing and packaging systems. This position sustains the Mission and Motto and Food Safety and Quality Statement of the Mennel Milling Company.

Schedule

Works shift as assigned and overtime as required. Primary shift: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Schedule may vary depending on workload.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company. Attend all required training sessions.
  • Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit-ready condition.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of CMMS regarding workflow process (Planning and Scheduling) and purchase requisition requirements.
  • Effectively communicate job tasks and priorities between shifts and departments.
  • Identify and plan for jobs requiring non-stock parts.
  • Maintain suppliers to ensure needed parts and materials are purchased. Obtain quotes, select suppliers, purchase parts, and expedite materials to meet production needs.
  • Maintain and monitor overall parts inventory, including adding new parts and eliminating obsolete parts.
  • Ensure necessary parts and materials are available to minimize downtime associated with repairs.
  • Complete OEM part identification and identify equivalent replacements.
  • Verify storeroom parts inventory through periodic cycle counts.
  • Create and maintain min/max inventory levels in Maximo.
  • Maintain the parts room 5-S and ensure the area is kept in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
  • Provide direction for priority work to Mechanics on assigned shift. Ensure all support requests are responded to with urgency.
  • Facilitate and monitor on-site vendor services/activity.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to co-workers as required.
  • Maintain the reliability and capacity of plant equipment by troubleshooting and repairing mechanical or electrical problems.
  • Continuously upgrade skills and knowledge to remain current with the latest technology.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or actions to company supervision immediately.
  • Backup Team Leader during absences and vacations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Familiarity with machine shop equipment and ability to accurately design, develop, document, and fabricate machine parts.
  • Ability to weld, including resistance, MIG, and TIG welding.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and organize tasks and follow through to ensure completion in an efficient and high-quality manner.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to listen well and work in a team environment with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans.
  • Ability to write, complete checklists, and other basic documentation and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must use solid judgment when making decisions and ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to perform maintenance tasks, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to conditions typical of a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including moving equipment and machinery, dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions.
  • Must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in the presence of airborne particles.
  • The noise level in the work environment usually requires the use of hearing protection.
  • Work involves exposure to common wheat allergens.
