Maintenance I (2nd Shift: 2:00PM-10:30PM EST)

About the Role

Performs duties to maintain and repair a variety of building and plant equipment and construct facility, production, and office work areas.

Responsibilities

• Work with blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems involving relay logic, programmable controllers, and electronic devices.
• Read ladder logic and hard wiring blueprints.
• Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Observe mechanical devices in operation to locate cause of trouble.
• Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Start and test devices to determine performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machinery, buildings, and grounds.
• Make replacement parts, prototype equipment, jigs, and fixtures.
• Relocate plant equipment; make necessary electrical, pneumatic, and water line connections.
• Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Take intermediate level of responsibility for safety of employees, building, plant, and grounds.
• Serve as a member of various committees as needed.
• Perform other duties as necessary, including temporary job fill-in for absentees on production lines.
• Drive forklift truck from time to time.
• Move material to and from production lines, including shipping and receiving of material.
• Follow all safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform grounds maintenance.

Requirements

• Use of power tools, lathe, mill, all types of welders, levels, plumb bobs, straight edges, rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of some trigonometry.
• 1-3 years of experience.
• Some forklift truck experience.

Working Conditions

Works in a factory environment with noise from manufacturing operations. Exposure to moving equipment, parts, and electrical shock. Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment. Occasionally lifts, carries, or moves objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
