Maintenance I - 2nd Shift

About the Role

Perform all duties necessary to ensure the efficient operation of all equipment in the plant. Operate and maintain plant equipment in accordance with standard work and building procedures.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and follow all safety preventative measures and practices, including 5S+ safety guidelines.
• Design, install, and maintain all plant electrical equipment and systems.
• Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures to eliminate unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions, unlawful activities, or activities presenting unreasonable health/environmental risk.
• Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
• Train and direct electricians.
• Establish and maintain records on all electrical equipment.
• Operate plant machinery related to job assignments and follow standard work requirements.
• Use computer programs for recording data, making labels, printing tooling layouts, obtaining prints and specifications, and printing ship-sets.
• Promote positive teamwork.
• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on plant machinery.
• Accountable for process evaluation, measurement, documentation, and continuous improvement.
• Foster professionalism with associates and internal/external customers.
• Design, install, inspect, and maintain 480-volt and 120-volt circuitry.
• Modify machinery power circuits for compatibility with facility feed lines.
• Test, repair, and replace electronic circuitry.
• Design, install, and test controls and cable systems.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of bearings, seals, clutches, pumps, gears, etc.
• Troubleshoot electrical equipment, including motors, transformers, controls, instruments, lights, and heaters.
• Understand the interface between mechanical and electrical controls.
• Inspect all electrical work to ensure compliance with applicable codes.
• Work independently to plan, lay out, and perform assigned machine repair work.
• Work from complicated machine drawings, part lists, specifications, schematics, and verbal instructions.
• Reproduce and/or repair machine parts, holders, and attachments to strict tolerances using tool room equipment (lathes, milling machines, drill presses, welders, etc.).
• Establish and maintain records for machine repair items as required.
• Actively participate in department and process team activities and projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate plus 4 years of formal trades training or equivalent experience.
• Journeyman’s license as an electrician preferred.
• Experience with industrial equipment electrical systems, including PLC controls and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and use complicated drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
• Proficiency with electrical hand tools and measuring devices.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
