Job Summary

Supports the production environment with simple repairs, building maintenance, and commonly occurring maintenance issues that require minimal training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a proactive working environment through ongoing communication with Production associates.
  • Supports the production environment with simple repairs, building maintenance, and commonly occurring maintenance issues that require minimal training.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and other maintenance issues that require basic skills and problem solving.
  • Can replace HVAC filters and perform minor HVAC work.
  • Order replacement parts and replace simple building components.
  • Simple carpentry work that supports building repairs.
  • Supports Trane Vidalia’s goals of Safety, Quality, and Teamwork to achieve overall success of Trane.
  • Must be flexible to meet the needs of the company. This includes daily, off-shift work, weekends, shutdowns, and holidays.
  • Must also have flexibility to adjust work hours on short notice and willingness to be on-call if the need arises.
  • Communicate issues to and from Production Teams and the OFT Process Team.
  • Provides and is responsible for his or her own hand tools.
  • Ongoing training/development as needed and/or required.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0-4 years’ experience in the maintenance field.
  • Strong Leadership and communication (written, oral interpersonal) skills.
  • Team Player: must be able to foster a team environment and support team goals.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to work with various hand tools such as drills, saws, hammers, etc.
  • Ability to maintain pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, required.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and precision instruments (e.g. micrometers, calipers).
  • Ability to run low voltage circuits in accordance with national electrical codes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot low voltage control circuits.
  • Optional certification required.

Physical Requirements

  • Perform tasks requiring hand and eye coordination, with good hand dexterity (gripping and pinching repetitively) for more than 2/3’s of work shift.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 10 pounds continuously, 25 pounds repetitively and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and/or stoop repetitively 6 to 8 hours per day.
  • Reach overhead repetitively for more than 2/3’s of work shift.
  • Stand continuously for 8 to 10 hours per day.
  • Climb up and down stairs up to 3 hours per day.
  • Use of senses to detect quality defects and unsafe conditions.
  • Moderate physical exertion.
