About the role
The HVAC Climate Control Equipment Mechanic provides energy-management services by identifying repair and/or replacement needs; monitoring, programming, and maintaining heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring tools and materials are available at the job site.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with utility companies to compare pricing structures.
- Coordinate with administration and other trades to complete projects and work orders efficiently.
- Diagnose causes of problems and/or failures in energy systems to identify repair and/or replacement needs.
- Inform personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for decision-making and regulatory compliance.
- Install heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration equipment and systems to enhance or upgrade climate-control capabilities.
- Maintain files and records to provide an up-to-date reference.
- Monitor utility billings and recommend cost-containment methods.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars to convey or gather required job information.
- Prepare written materials (e.g., repair status, activity logs) to document activities and convey information.
- Program energy-management systems for maximum efficiency.
- Repair heating and air-conditioning systems and components to ensure safe working conditions.
- Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability for installations and repairs.
- Respond to emergency situations during and after hours (e.g., heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems) to resolve immediate safety concerns.
- Transport tools, equipment, and supplies to ensure materials are available at the job site.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
