About the Role

Under minimal direction, you will rotate duties between clearing baggage jams, monitoring system graphical displays, moving baggage from pier to pier, and assisting Technicians. You will move baggage from the default pier and deliver it to the appropriate airline pier or make-up unit, complete computer entries and paperwork for tasks performed, and assist Technicians with preventative maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating system components, as well as general housekeeping in the work area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system walkthroughs and alert Technicians of any issues.
  • Monitor system displays for active alarms/faults and dispatch technicians to faulted areas.
  • Clear baggage jams on the system.
  • Move baggage tubs to and from the bag room to various locations within the assigned work area.
  • Complete all training as assigned by the Company.
  • Comply with all ELS safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties/assignments as required by management.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Ability to pass a basic aptitude test.
  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be dependable and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport Security badge.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Company’s insurance policy.
  • Must comply with the ELS Drug and Alcohol policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in an Airport environment.
  • Good knowledge of industrial safety.
  • Ability to work in tight and high spaces with proper PPE.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Previous mechanical experience.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Outlook).

Work Environment

Works in the terminal bag room in conditions exposed to hot, cold, and occasionally wet weather. The environment contains dust, dirt, and a continual noise level that may occasionally require the use of hearing protection. Use of proper PPE is required.
