Maintenance Engineer (Marine/Dockyard)
About the role
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated professional to join our Ship Repair and Maintenance Department. The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of marine maintenance work and will be responsible for supervising, coordinating, and executing all repair and maintenance activities related to vessels and dockyard equipment.
This position requires close monitoring of regular vessel maintenance works and docking operations, including hull inspections, machinery servicing, and effective coordination with the vessel master, drivers, and technical and operational teams to ensure the smooth and timely completion of maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and perform all types of maintenance, repair, and servicing works of company-owned vessels.
- Monitor and maintain the performance of main engines, auxiliary engines, generators, compressors, pumps, and other onboard machinery.
- Check and maintain proper lubrication, fuel, and cooling systems to ensure smooth engine operation.
- Inspect and repair propulsion systems, including propellers, shafts, stern tubes, and rudders.
- Conduct regular inspection and maintenance of steering gear, bilge, ballast, and fresh water systems.
- Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize breakdowns and ensure smooth vessel operation.
- Conduct regular maintenance of deck machinery such as winches, cranes, and mooring equipment.
- Supervise and coordinate all docking-related works, including hull cleaning, painting, propeller and rudder inspection, sea valve checking, and class survey arrangements.
- Oversee docking and undocking operations, ensuring safety compliance and timely completion of all tasks.
- Supervise hull inspection, underwater fittings, and related repairs during docking periods.
- Monitor engine running hours and arrange for timely overhauling of major machinery and components.
- Maintain accurate and updated maintenance records, engine logbooks, docking schedules, and fuel/lube oil consumption reports.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and report requirements to management in advance.
- Coordinate closely with the vessel master, engineers, and operation team for maintenance planning, docking, and trial runs.
- Ensure that all maintenance and docking activities comply with marine safety standards, pollution prevention measures, class requirements, and company policies.
Requirements
- Experience: At least 2 years
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (ME-Marine)
