About the role
The Electrical Technician at GTI is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across various facilities. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and safety regulations, as well as the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures according to relevant codes and standards
- Diagnose electrical problems using testing devices such as voltmeters, ammeters, and oscilloscopes, and implement effective solutions
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure electrical systems operate efficiently and safely
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to support system upgrades, modifications, and new installations
- Document all maintenance and repair work accurately and report any safety hazards or compliance issues promptly
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with completion of an accredited electrical technician training program
- Proven experience as an electrical technician or in a similar role involving electrical system maintenance and repair
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and safety regulations (e.g., NEC standards)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites within the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field
- Certification such as Journeyman Electrician or Electrical Technician Certification
- Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial control systems
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience in both residential and commercial electrical systems

- Utilizes technical skills to interpret complex electrical diagrams and schematics, enabling accurate installation and repair of electrical components
- Proficient with diagnostic tools allowing quick identification and implementation of effective solutions, minimizing downtime
- Communicates effectively with team members and documents work clearly for compliance and future reference
- Ensures all tasks are performed in a manner that protects personnel and equipment
- Familiarity with advanced control systems and software enhances ability to support modern electrical infrastructure and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
