About the role

The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for safely completing a wide range of tasks under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and must be proficient in mechanical, electrical, and facility maintenance in a manufacturing setting. Responsible for assigned preventative maintenance work orders and repairs to electrical systems and mechanical equipment in the plant. This role supports the production of high-quality commercial roofing products, with a sense of urgency and accountability for equipment uptime. The Maintenance Electrician thrives in environments where safety, quality, service, and cost are the highest priorities and is able to make recommendations to improve the overall performance of plant equipment. This role requires effective interaction and communication with all GAF employees, maintaining a positive, customer-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot industrial equipment, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems with minimal supervision.
• Complete assigned preventative maintenance work orders on facilities, electrical systems, mechanical systems, equipment, and components.
• Install and/or replace new or reconditioned parts as needed.
• Work safely and assume responsibility for the safety of self and others; follow all safety rules and policies including LOTO, maintenance work permits, PPE, JSAs, and JSOs.
• Ensure excellent housekeeping is maintained and enhanced during the performance of all tasks.
• Dismantle and make necessary repairs to equipment such as pumps, motors, chains, sprockets, bearing couple alignment, and other components.
• Follow and understand mechanical sketches, drawings, and prints; locate and understand information contained in equipment manuals.
• Diagnose actual and potential problems, make necessary repairs, and test new and repaired machinery.
• Support engineering projects as directed, including those with corporate and local contractor services.
• Use appropriate test instruments to diagnose and locate equipment malfunctions.
• Test and put into service all electrical equipment that has been repaired, moved, or recently installed.
• Wire and maintain all buildings and structures including lighting and fixtures.
• Troubleshoot all primary (up to 480v) and secondary electrical systems and control circuits.
• Keep storeroom organized and maintain inventory counts per established procedures; assist with inventory audits as needed.
• Inform Maintenance Supervisor of progress and concerns related to job assignments, plant condition, equipment status, and safety conditions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records in Maximo while completing all required written and electronic documentation including work orders and labor hours.
• Prepare for shift startup by reviewing shift notes, outgoing employee observations, emails, log books, and other department data.
• Perform other work as assigned when not engaged in regular duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience; extrusion or rigid insulation manufacturing environment is helpful.
• Self-motivated, responsible, enthusiastic, trustworthy, and a positive attitude.
• Physical capability and stamina to fit workplace demands.
• Flexible, patient, and open-minded; willingness to seek assistance and collaborate with others.
• Comfortable with PC-based office software and other common applications; Google Suite preferred.

Schedule

• Core Schedule: Monday – Friday, 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM (10-hour shifts, 40+ hours per week).
• Mandatory Overtime: High volume of mandatory overtime is required; a high degree of schedule flexibility is essential.
• On-Call Rotation: Must participate in a weekly rotating on-call schedule covering both day and night emergencies to support a lean team of 3-4 technicians.
• Seasonal/Product Line Demand: Ability to work night shifts 2 to 3 times annually based on product line schedules.

Pay

Base Hourly Rate: $43.01. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.
