Summary
Aid in the repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, electrical systems, and other tasks assigned by the Maintenance Manager or as directed by the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Properly and consistently use mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE) for all assigned jobs.
- Install or dismantle machines or equipment, replace defective parts and motors, and adjust feed mechanisms.
- Clean and lubricate machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings.
- Read and follow electrical schematics.
- Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems.
- Work with temperature controls and thermocouples.
- Replace or repair machine belts.
- Remove dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines.
- Paint machines or equipment to prevent corrosion.
- Bend, cut, and run conduit and wire; drill holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for electrical connections.
- Connect wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replace switches and fuses, and splice wire and insulate wire with friction tape.
- Bend, cut, and thread pipe, cut openings in walls, ceilings, and floors for pipes, and seal pipe joints with sealing compound.
- Cut out and join parts for worktables, benches, shelves, and other furnishings.
- Patch or replace plaster or plaster board and paint walls, ceilings, and trim of buildings.
- Clear clogged drains and replace plumbing fixtures.
- Operate welding machine to repair or join metal parts.
- Clean work area, tools, and equipment.
- Daily upkeep including maintaining quench oil, smog hog cells, and housekeeping.
- Attend and actively participate in all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) required safety trainings (LOTO, confined spaces, PPE, etc.).
- Perform other routine duties and preventative maintenance as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, use hands to finger/handle/feel, and talk or hear.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
- Frequent exposure to high, precarious places and extreme cold/heat.
- Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
Work Environment
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
- Frequent exposure to high, precarious places and extreme cold/heat.
- Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
