Maintenance Director Full-Time

Maintenance Director – Full-Time Garden City Healthcare Center Pay Range: $22.00–$23.00 per hour, based on experience Garden City Healthcare Center is seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-focused Maintenance Director to lead our Maintenance Department. This position plans, organizes, develops, and directs facility maintenance operations to ensure a safe, comfortable, sanitary, and well-maintained environment for residents, employees, and visitors. The Maintenance Director works closely with the Administrator and department leaders while ensuring compliance with facility policies and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Essential Responsibilities Plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Maintenance Department and its daily operationsDevelop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, policies, procedures, and inspection recordsPerform routine facility rounds and ensure maintenance assignments are completed accurately and promptlyInspect resident rooms, common areas, storage rooms, workrooms, utility closets, equipment, and facility groundsCoordinate maintenance services with Nursing, Dietary, Activities, Housekeeping, and other departmentsMaintain and monitor mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, boiler, compressor, and generator systemsIdentify maintenance concerns and arrange for timely repairsEnsure services performed by outside vendors are properly completed and supervised according to contracts and work ordersMaintain productive working relationships with vendors, contractors, department leaders, residents, and familiesPromptly report equipment or facility damage to the AdministratorSupervise fire-prevention, emergency-preparedness, and workplace-safety programsInspect work areas and equipment regularly to identify and correct potential hazardsEnsure employees follow established safety procedures and properly use required protective equipmentMaintain Material Safety Data Sheets and ensure hazardous chemicals are properly labeled, stored, and handledDevelop and implement infection-control and universal-precaution procedures for maintenance operationsEnsure maintenance employees receive appropriate safety, infection-control, and hazardous-material trainingAssist with developing the department budget and monitor expenses, supplies, labor, and equipment costsMaintain accurate financial, inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance recordsParticipate in facility surveys and inspections conducted by authorized agenciesDevelop and implement plans of correction for maintenance deficiencies identified during surveysEnsure medical waste is handled and disposed of according to facility proceduresMaintain the confidentiality of resident information, including protected health informationRemain prepared to respond to facility emergencies and adjust maintenance schedules as necessary Supervisory Responsibilities Direct and supervise Maintenance Department personnelAssign work and monitor employees’ performance and productivityConduct regular department meetings and provide training and guidanceEvaluate staff competency and address performance or service concernsEnsure appropriate staffing and coverage for routine and emergency maintenance needs Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of three years of supervisory experience in a maintenance or plant-related positionHealthcare, skilled nursing, or long-term care maintenance experience strongly preferredKnowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systemsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, work orders, and equipment manualsKnowledge of applicable building codes, fire-safety requirements, and workplace regulationsAbility to make independent decisions and solve practical problemsStrong leadership, communication, organizational, and customer-service skillsAbility to interact professionally with residents, families, employees, vendors, visitors, and government representativesMust maintain any licenses or certifications required by applicable standards, codes, and labor lawsMust be available to assist with emergencies and on-call needs as required Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the facilityAbility to occasionally lift or move up to 25 poundsAbility to use hand tools, maintenance equipment, computers, telephones, and standard office equipmentAbility to assist with resident evacuation during an emergency if necessaryReasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals with disabilities Benefits Competitive payMedical, dental, and vision insuranceLife insurance401(k)Paid time offTraining and professional growth opportunitiesSupportive leadership and a collaborative team environmentRewarding opportunity to help provide residents with a safe and comfortable home Job Type: Full-time Pay: $22.00–$23.00 per hour, based on experience Garden City Healthcare Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
